Man Stabbed In Throat With Boxcutter Outside Union County Gym: Police

CLARK, NJ — A Scotch Plains man was charged after police say he stabbed another man in the throat with a boxcutter on Sunday.

On Sept. 8 at 3:58 p.m., Clark Police were called to the LA Fitness at 1255 Raritan Road for a patron stabbed in the throat.

Police determined the male patron was stabbed in the throat by an acquaintance with a box cutter. The victim was taken to University Hospital in Newark, where they were treated and released, said Clark Township Police.

The suspect was not at the gym, as they fled the area before police arrived, said police.

A follow-up investigation led to the suspect, identified as Antonio Lampon, 22, of Scotch Plains, being arrested.

Lampon was charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree aggravated assault, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and fourth-degree certain persons not to possess weapons.

Lampon was lodged in the Union County Jail pending a detention hearing.
