Mom, Daughter Killed Inside Union County Home, 1 Arrested: Officials
A male relative has been arrested out-of-state in connection with the death of a mother and her daughter in Union County, a report said.

ROSELLE, NJ — A mother and daughter were found dead in their Union County home Wednesday, and a relative has been arrested out-of-state in connection with their death, according to a report.
Officials discovered the woman and nine-year-old girl in their home on West 7th Avenue after the girl did not show up for school, ABC7 reported.
Family members of the victim said a male relative was taken into custody, according to ABC7.

Union County officials have not identified the victims as of Thursday evening.
Area schools were instructed by Roselle Police to go into shelter-in-place while they investigated the deaths in a home on Wednesday afternoon. The lockdown was lifted after 3 p.m.

E. 7th Ave was closed between Locust and Pine Streets for the police investigation.
Roselle Mayor Donald Shaw sent his condolences and that of Borough Council to the family of the victims.
"The family and this community have lost two precious souls. You can rest assure; we will get through this together," he said Thursday. "And to the family, the Borough of Roselle stands with you and will be here for the long haul."
Shaw also expressed his gratitude to Roselle Police and the county prosecutor's office for their work in the investigation.
Shaw further acknowledged Superintendent of Schools Dr. Nathan Fisher "for his work in supporting the students and teachers to cope with this loss in the school community."
Roselle Police and the Union County Prosecutor's Office did not answer Patch's request for more information Thursday.
