Motorcyclist Killed In Collision With Off-Duty Elizabeth Officer

ELIZABETH, NJ — Authorities are investigating a fatal accident involving an off-duty Elizabeth Police Department officer on Halloween night, acting Union County Prosecutor Thomas K. Isenhour announced Thursday.

At around 11:20 p.m. Jairo Lozano, 29, of Elizabeth was driving a motorcycle in the area of Elmora Avenue and Vine Street where he was involved in a collision with an off-duty officer, whose identity has not been revealed, according to the preliminary investigation.

Lozano was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The off-duty officer was uninjured, Isenhour reported.

The investigation is being conducted by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force and Special Prosecutions Unit.
