Narcan Use, Overdose Deaths Increase In Union County

Police-administered naloxone deployment has risen almost 30 times in the past month bringing the total to 156 times this year.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — The number of times police officers in Union County towns have administered naloxone in the past month has risen to almost 30.

"We are at 156 for the year, nearing our totals for 2016 (161) and 2017 (180) at a far earlier point," the Union County Prosecutor's Office tweeted on Friday.

A total of 47 people have also died from an overdose in Union County as of Friday.

Comparing these numbers to last month, there were 127 people saved by Narcan and 36 people who also died from an overdose in Union County as of July 5.
