“The art world is really fun,” Co-Owner and Senior Art Advisor of Tang Art Advisory, Annelien Bruins told Patch. “People new to the art world may think it’s intimidating but I enjoy helping them navigate through it. There are so many good art works that don’t have to be expensive to enjoy… I love taking away the feeling of intimidation.”

Bruins got into the art business by accident. She went to London in pursuit of a marketing career, but with no luck she found herself randomly working for two art collectors.

“I began managing those art collections,” Bruins said. “And I’ve done it ever since.”

Bruins has more than 15 years of experience under her belt and truly enjoys what she does.

“I always studied art in high school and did drawings as a child,” Bruins said. “But the best way to learn about art is to just to catalog it and I have seen a lot of work that way.”

At Tang Art Advisory, Bruins helps locals purchase art by offering advice on what to buy, how not to overpay and to guide them on what is a really good piece of art.

"It's a very easy thing to do in art world to over pay," Bruins said. "If you don't know the art world it can be a very tricky thing."

Bruins also helps locals sell art. She will photograph the pieces, catalog it and find the appropriate market to get the best price in a timely fashion.
