New Programs, Schedule At Westfield Conservation Center For 2026

The Westfield Conservation Center has issued its 2026 schedule, including new athletic equipment recycling and updated hours.

WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield Conservation Center has released its new schedule and information mailer for 2026, which is now available online.

The mailer provides details on hours of operation, seasonal permit purchases, and acceptable items for disposal. Residents can access the full details by visiting westfieldnj.gov/conservation.

Seasonal permits for organic waste will cost $60 and can only be purchased online. Sales for these permits begin on March 9. Organic waste disposal services will open for 2026 permits starting March 19, coinciding with the center's transition to its spring and summer hours.

During the spring and summer, the center will operate on Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Weekend hours will be Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The drop-off recycling program will continue to be free of charge and will not require a permit.

Single-use bulk waste permits have varying costs based on vehicle type. A permit for a passenger vehicle is $40, an SUV permit costs $60, and a pickup truck permit is $80.

Additionally, single-use permits for mattress and boxspring disposal are priced at $35 per item.

A new program at the center involves a partnership with Gear Give to accept new or gently used athletic equipment. This initiative aims to provide an avenue for residents to recycle sports gear.

Furthermore, residents can pick up free mulch and firewood at the center, though availability may vary. All residents accessing the center can utilize the free mulch and firewood service.
