NJ Weather: Thunderstorms Expected On Tuesday

The National Weather Service says thunderstorms are possible and there could even be some small hail and strong winds. Find out where.

Here's the forecast of how the day is expected to play out, according to the National Weather Service:

  • Thunderstorms are expected to enter New Jersey after 1 p.m., beginning in Bergen County.
  • The storms could produce some hail and gusty winds between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
  • The skies are supposed to be cloudy, with a high near 75, with winds 9 to 13 mph
  • Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
  • New rainfall amounts of less than a 10th of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

By 4 p.m., the storms are supposed to be in Central Jersey and the Jersey Shore. Here is what is expected to happened:

  • There chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 4 p.m. Before the storms arrive, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 76.
  • West winds will move 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
  • The chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
  • New rainfall amounts of less than a 10th of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

South Jersey is expected to get bad weather by the evening and overnight:

  • There is a chance of showers, mainly after 5 p.m. Before that, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 79.
  • West wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
  • Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
  • New precipitation amounts of less than a 10th of an inch possible.
  • Showers are likely, with possibly a thunderstorm, before 1 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 1 and 2 a.m.
  • West wind 6 to 8 mph.
  • Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
  • New precipitation amounts of less than a 10th of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
