NJ's Creepiest Urban Legend Is Right Here In Westfield, Website Says

Is it a hoax or is it real? No matter. The Westfield's infamous and creepy "Watcher" home have nabbed it a spot on Thrillist.com's list.

WESTFIELD, NJ — The infamous "Watcher" house, known across Westfield and the country, has been named as the Creepiest Urban Legend in New Jersey by Thrillist.com.

If you don't know the story, the Westfield landmark gained viral traction after a couple purchased what they called their "dream home" in June 2014 for $1.3 million.

Shortly after buying the home at 657 Boulevard, the couple, who have three children, said they started receiving disturbing letters from a stalker who identified himself as “The Watcher.”

Such disturbing letters reportedly include, “My grandfather watched the house in the 1920s and my father watched in the 1960s. It is now my time.”

“Do you need to fill the house with the young blood I requested? Once I know their names I will call to them and draw them to me. I asked the (prior owners) to bring me young blood,” the stalker also reportedly wrote.

The new owners were too scared to move in to the six-bedroom house due to alleged threats the letters contained such as “allow me to watch you and track you as you move through the house."

But was it all a hoax or is it real? No matter, Thrillist thought it noteworthy enough to add to their list of "The Creepiest Urban Legend In Every State."

The article claims the legend revolving around the "Watcher" home is "like a David Fincher movie breathed into horrifying life."

The fact that no one seems to know if this urban legend is real or not was another reason this home was added to the list.

"The debate and skepticism still burn in the creepiest corners of the internet, and while it's a fairly 'new' legend, it's probably one of the scariest entries on this list, no matter what you believe," Thrillist stated.

The house may be creepy but not creepy enough for a renter to move inside in February.
