Overcoming Tragedy

The Union County Torah Center will be hosting a special speaker Rabbi David Hatuel on Wednesday, , August 2nd at 7:30 pm. at the center, 111 Laurel Place, Westfield, NJ

The title of the talk is “Overcoming Tragedy & The Gaza Disengagement Twelve Years Later”.

Rabbi David Hatuel, a supervisor in Israel's Ministry of Education, suffered two tragedies within 17 months of each other. In May of 2004, he lost his entire family--his wife, nine months pregnant, and four daughters ages 10, 8, 6 and 2, when Palestinian terrorists brutally shot them as they drove near their home in the Gaza Strip settlement of Mashav Katif. Then, in August 2005, David Hatuel lost his home, when the Israeli government implemented the disengagement from Gaza.

Since then, Rabbi Hatuel has chosen the path of accepting his past and rebuilding his life. We invite you to hear his story, along with an update on the current status of the former Gaza settlers from Dror Vanunu, Director of the Friends of Gush Katif. They will answer your questions about the aftermath of the disengagement.
