Pair Deceived, Stole $250,000 From Acquaintance In Union County: Cops

UNION COUNTY, NJ — Two people were arrested after police said they engaged in a series of deceptive practices against an acquaintance to obtain more than $250,000.

Crystal Williams and Damien Hall, both of the Elizabeth/Newark area, were charged with a combined total of 30 counts, including second-degree conspiracy to commit theft, second-degree theft, and multiple counts of third and fourth-degree criminal impersonation and forgery, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel announced Thursday.

The investigation, led by Union County Prosecutor’s Office Special Prosecutions Unit Detective Dr. Grant Mayes, revealed that between 2022 and 2024, Williams and Hall engaged in a series of deceptive practices against an acquaintance to obtain more than $250,000.

On March 4, Williams and Hall were arrested and processed without incident.
