Partial Building Collapse, Firefighters Rescue Residents In Garwood

American Red Cross was called to help the residents displaced due to the collapse.

GARWOOD, NJ — A three-story building partially collapsed on Sunday afternoon with reports of people possibly trapped inside, according to the Garwood Fire Department.

On July 16, Garwood Fire Department was called to the partial building collapse at the corner of Cedar Street and 2nd Avenue.

There were initial reports of occupants possibly trapped inside, said the fire department.

Garwood Police and Firefighters were able to help everyone inside safely evacuate from the building with no reported injuries.

The cause of the collapse is still under investigation, and the area will remain closed off until repairs are made.
