Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car in Union
Breaking: The Union man attempted to cross the street when he was hit by a car, according to police.

UNION, NJ — A Union local was killed after being struck by a car while crossing the street on Thursday night, police reported.
Thomas J. Butler, 84, of Union was attempting to cross Chestnut Street near the intersection of Carolyn Road when he was hit by a 2012 Ford Escape on Nov. 17 at 6:58 p.m., Union Police reported.
The car was driven by Russell G. Azzarello, 71, of Union.

Butler was transported to Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth and later died due to his injuries.
Chestnut Street was detoured for approximately three hours while the crash scene was processed. The investigation is being conducted by Officer Marco Penetra of the Union Police Department.
