Pedestrian Hit, Killed By Train Near Summit Station: Service Resumes
NJ TRANSIT rail tickets and passes are being cross-honored by NJ TRANSIT bus and private carriers.

SUMMIT, NJ — A pedestrian was hit by an NJ TRANSIT train on Monday causing rail services to be suspended. The services have since resumed as of 4:20 p.m.
At around 1:20 p.m.on July 24, Morris and Essex line train 854, which left Hackettstown at 11:58 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken at 2 p.m., hit and fatally injured an adult male pedestrian at Summit Station, NJ Transit Public Information Officer Kyalo Mulumba.
There were no injuries reported to the around 45 customers or crew on board, said Mulumba.

Train traffic on the Morris and Essex line and Gladstone Branch line were both suspended in both directions. Both services have since been restored, however, delays of around 1 hour remain as of 4:20 p.m.
