Pets For Vets 5K Helps Ease PTSD

The fundraiser run raises money to purchase service dogs for veterans.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Those looking for a real, tangible way to help veterans dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder can participate in the Pets for Vets 5K fundraiser this Sunday.

The Maplewood PBA Local #44 with the help of the Maplewood Police Department Community Service Bureau, will be hosting the run as a fundraiser to donate to Troopers Assisting Troops, a NJ State Police organization that raises money to purchase service dogs for Vets suffering with PTSD.

The race will be held on Nov. 11 at 9 a.m. with pre-registration to begin at 8 a.m. The event will be open to all ages. All participants will receive a free t-shirt.

Do to liability, organizers ask that participants leave their dogs at home as the only K9's that will be on premise will be service animals. For any questions reach out to Officer Matthew Jones at mjones@twp.maplewood.nj.us or (973) 762-3400 ext. 7924.
