Photo Gallery: America in Bloom Judges Welcomed at Reception.

Westfield's participation for the second year in the America in Bloom contest was celebrated Monday evening during a cocktail party to welcome the contests two judges to town.

AIB judges Marlborough B. Packard and Bruce Riggs, are spending Monday and Tuesday touring the community and judging the horticulture appearence and historic nature of the town. Gardens, street planters and community involvement are all on tap for the judging in the annual contest. Westfield received four out of five blooms during the 2009 contest.

During the Monday evening reception at Acquaviva, Downtown Westfield Corporation Director Sherry Cronin and Williams Nursery owner Dave Williams, the Westfield in Bloom coordinators, spoke about the volunteer efforts in the program and the town's work in the American in Bloom. Cronin also honored local resident Barry Corcoran for his volunteer efforts on behalf of the beautification effort.
