Photo Gallery: WHS Class of 1950 Celebrates 60 Years

Class celebrates 60 year reunion at Crowne Plaza Saturday night.

When the Westfield High School Class of 1950 left the hallowed halls on Elm Street, the country was beginning a new decade, a former Midwestern senator occupied the White House, American troops were fighting in Korea and the Dodgers were playing in Brooklyn. While some things remain the same in 2010 and some things differ, with the present having a former Midwestern senator occupying the White House, American troops fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq, the high school being on Dorian Road and the Dodgers settling into another decade in Los Angeles, the Class of 1950 retains the spirit they graduated with.

Members of the class gathered together Saturday night to celebrate 60 years from when they set out from the old high school on Elm Street to change the world. The class kicked off the festivities Friday night with a small party followed by a Saturday afternoon picnic in Westfield. Saturday night featured the reunion goers gathering at the Crowne Plaza in Clark for a party.

In a coincidence across the decades, the reunion occurred as in Westfield, the Class of 2010 was gathering together for a special night of their own, their senior prom.
