Pickup Rear-Ends Snow Plow On Garden State Parkway

The driver of the pickup, from Wayne, was hospitalized after following too closely and colliding with the dump truck, police report.

UNION, NJ — A pickup truck, who was following too closely, crashed into the back of a snow plow truck on the Garden State Parkway causing delays in Union, State Police Trooper Alejandro Goez reported.

The Dodge Pickup driven by John Scillieri, 37, of Wayne rear-ended the truck dumping salt on the highway at 8:33 a.m. on the southbound side at milepost 142.2 in Union, Goez said.

Scillieri was transported to Overlook Hospital in Summit. The injuries were not life-threatening. The driver of the snowplow did not sustain any injuries.

Several lanes were down causing delays on the northbound side and also rubbernecking delays on the southbound side.

Scillieri was issued two summonses for careless driving and distance between vehicles or following too close, Goez said.
