Shelter In Place To Be Lifted, Police Activity Finished At Union Catholic High School
Police activity at Union Catholic High School caused all Westfield, Scotch Plains, and Fanwood schools to shelter in place on Monday.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Police activity at Union Catholic High School has been completed as of 1:36 p.m. on Monday. The Shelter in Place at all Westfield, Scotch Plains, and Fanwood schools will be lifted shortly, said Fanwood Police.
"The Westfield Police Department has been monitoring the security situation and has confirmed that it is safe to follow normal dismissal procedures at all schools. There will be a police presence at all schools. We are grateful to the WPD for their continued support as we work together to keep our school community safe and secure," said the district.

All Westfield, Scotch Plains and Fanwood schools underwent a Shelter In Place on Monday following the police activity reported at the high school at 1600 Martine Ave. in Scotch Plains, said Fanwood Police in an alert around 12:15 p.m.
"Out of an abundance of caution, we have enacted a modified shelter-in-place, pausing all outdoor activities and any entry/exit from our schools and keeping all students and staff indoors. All students and staff are safe and continuing with their regular class schedules. We will update you when we have further information," said Westfield Schools.
