Summer is beginning in Westfield, as the Memorial Pool is set to open for the season today.
The pool will open its doors at 10 a.m. welcoming members with three pools, diving boards and water slides in order to cool off from the heat. Memberships to the pool for the season have been sold out, according to the town Recreation Department.
The Westfield Marlins, the pool's youth swim team, has gotten underway with tryouts for the summer. Tryouts were held for two days this week, allowing swimmers to show their stuff to the team of coaches.

Coaches were explaining to parents during the Thursday afternoon session that students are being judged at their level of comfort in the water and abilities to swim during a meet and practices. They are not being judged on speed or times.
The list of swimmers for the 2010 Marlins will be posted on the swim team's bulleton board at the pool after 5 p.m. on Monday.
