Porch Pirates, Illegal Dumping, Business Burglary Reported In Westfield

Westfield Police released its blotter for the past week.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Porch pirates, illegal dumping and a burglary to a business were reported recently in Westfield.

Westfield Police Blotter – Feb. 2 to Feb. 8:

On Feb. 3 at 3 p.m.: A resident of the 100 block of Prospect Street reported the theft of a package valued at $111. This theft occurred from a foyer area at an unknown time on Feb. 3.

On Feb. 3 at 4:22 p.m.: There was a report of illegal dumping at a business in the 1100 block of West South Avenue, with a large amount of garbage improperly disposed of in a business' dumpster.

On Feb. 4 at 10:35 a.m.: A resident of the 100 block of Prospect Street reported the theft of a package valued at $60. This theft occurred from a foyer area at an unknown time on Feb. 3.

On Feb. 8 at 1:37 a.m.: A burglary occurred at a business located in the area of the 400 block of Central Avenue. An unknown suspect forced entry to gain access to the interior of the business. No proceeds were reported to be taken during this incident.

On Feb. 8 at 3:08 p.m.: A victim responded to Westfield Police Department Headquarters to retrieve a lost wallet that was located near the 0-100 block of Elm Street by a Good Samaritan. At that time, the victim reported that around $600 in cash was missing from his found wallet.

On Feb. 8 at 4:30 p.m.: Nassire Phillips, 26, Plainfield, was arrested on the strength of a Westfield Complaint Warrant that was filed following an investigation into a motor vehicle stop that occurred on August 18, 2024, in which Phillips hindered his apprehension and provided false information to Westfield Police. Following his arrest, Phillips was found to have additional traffic and criminal warrants out of Hillsborough Township, South Plainfield, Scotch Plains, and Watchung Boro totaling $4,250. Phillips was taken to the Essex County Jail on the strength of said warrants.
