Primary Day 2017: Who's On The Ballot, Where To Vote In Westfield

Tuesday, June 6, is also the final day to register as an independent candidate, and unaffiliated voters can vote in the primaries.

WESTFIELD, NJ — On Tuesday, June 6 voters will be heading to the polls to cast their ballots in the primary election. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Locally in Westfield Township there is one - 4 year Mayor seat; one - 4 year 1st Ward Councilman seat; one - 4 year 2nd Ward Councilman seat; one - 4 year 3rd Ward Councilman seat; and one - 4 year 4th Ward Councilman seat up for grab.

The primaries are currently all uncontested with one republican and one democrat each vying for one of the spots.

  • Michael J. Dardia, 338 Benson Place, Westfield 07090 - Dem 2nd Ward Councilman
  • James J. Corcoran, 420 Wychwood Road, Westfield 07090 - Rep 2nd Ward Councilman

On the county level there are three - 3 year term seats open for freeholder, which is uncontested. There is also one - 3 year term open for county sheriff, which is contested in the Democrat race with two candidates vying for a spot.

County Sheriff – One – 3 year term

Tuesday at 4 p.m. is also the deadline for candidates to file independent bids to run for public office. Unaffiliated voters can vote in Tuesday’s primaries by showing up at the polls and registering with the party of the primary in which they intend to vote. Voters can change their affiliation back after the election is over.

  • Ward 3 District 5, 6, 7; Ward 4 District 3, 4, 5 - Westfield High School - 550 Dorian Rd
