Republicans, Democrats Put In Bids For Westfield Council

Four open seats and eight contenders filed by Monday's 4 p.m. deadline.

WESTFIELD, NJ - The Westfield Town Council will have at least two new faces in 2020 as Frank Arena and JoAnn Neylan did not file to run for re-election by Monday's 4 p.m. deadline.

Seats expiring at the end of 2019 include Arena's in Ward 1, Neylan's in Ward 2, Mark LoGrippo's in Ward 3 and Doug Stokes in Ward 4.

Candidates using the slogan Regular Democratic Organization of Union County include James G. Boyes for the First Ward, Mark Parmelee for the Second Ward, Jennifer C. Gilman for the Third Ward and Scott A. Katz for the Fourth Ward. They are all seeking the Democratic nomination in the primary.

Republican candidates using the slogan Regular Organization Republican of Union County include Robert H. Benacchio for the First Ward, Richard Bodmer for the Second Ward, LoGrippo for the Third Ward and Stokes for the Fourth Ward. They are all seeking the Republican nomination in the primary.

The primary for this election cycle in June 4 and the general election takes place Nov. 5.

All petitions are pending certification by the County Clerk's Office.
