Request Ice Cream Van To Your Door: Summit, Westfield, More Towns
You won't have to scream for this truck; a new company is taking requests, and testing a van in several North Jersey towns.

NORTHERN NJ — Tired of having to scream for the ice cream truck to stop near you with its frosty treats? North Jersey-based entrepreneur, music industry veteran, and Basking Ridge resident Eric Murphy has developed Scream Truck, a soft serve van that you can electronically call to your home for contact-free delivery.
The truck will be tested in Westfield, Summit, and Mountainside in mid-August, say the founders, and then it will be tried in other towns like Scotch Plains. There will also be special events.
"Scream Truck is a modern, on-demand version of the ice cream man featuring made-to-order ‘soft scream’ (aka soft serve ice cream) treats and feel good music delivered to your driveway or doorstep," according to a release. "The on-demand neighborhood service is scheduled to be tested in Westfield, Mountainside and Summit."

The menu "will pair high quality soft serve ice cream with premium toppings, mix-ins, artisanal waffle cones, sauces and 'super sprinkles.' The brainchild of entrepreneur, music industry veteran, and longtime New Jersey resident Eric Murphy, Scream Truck combines Eric’s experiential marketing and technology expertise with his lifelong love of ice cream in hopes of becoming the ice cream truck franchise of the future."
Customers have to register their address and cell phone number on the Scream Truck website to be notified via text message anytime the Scream Truck will be on their street. With a simple one letter reply (‘Y’ for yes!), customers can request a stop at their house.

Scream Truck sends a reminder message approximately 10 minutes before arriving.
Even before the coronavirus pandemic, Scream Truck’s business model included what they call “Squeaky Clean Service," they said. It includes contact-free service, and detailed safety and sanitary measures.
"Each Scream Truck staff member will be trained (and certified by ServSafe) to adhere to food safety and personal hygiene procedures, and Scream Truck’s premium ice cream mix and toppings flow straight from manufacturers packaging to sanitized machines and dispensers," said a spokesperson. "Spoons and straws are individually wrapped, cones pre-sleeved, and contactless payment is possible utilizing their on-line ordering platform."
The ice cream van is described as an "experience" with a Bose sound system on the outside to deliver feel-good tunes along with the treats.
The truck is also available to be rented for private parties and events. The company offers a "Scream Soiree" where large groups can rent it out.
