Road Paving In Westfield Ahead Of Schedule: See Latest Update

An update on what roads will be targeted next was announced at Tuesday's Council meeting.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Road paving in Westfield is rolling right along and ahead of schedule due to favorable weather.

"Our contractor is about 3 to 4 days ahead of where he was originally scheduled. The weather has been very helpful so far," said Township Administrator Jim Gildea at the Tuesday night Council meeting.

Work is wrapping up on Everts Avenue and Sunnywood Drive and is expected to be completed this week, said Gildea.

Work will then move onto Maple Street, St. Marks Avenue, and Stanley Oval.

The Town's paving contractor, P&A Construction, began milling and paving roads a few weeks ago and has already completed 9 roads or sections out of the 30 proposed 2023 Anticipated Road Improvements.

In addition to the Town's efforts, Elizabeth Town Gas has been continuing to pave its own grids with a goal of completing 14 miles of roadway.

Elizabeth Town Gas has completed 38 roads completed this year since January.
