Salon South Trims Prices for New Customers

Interested in trying a new look for summer? Or how about a new salon?  is offering first-time customers a discount now through Labor Day.

Co-owners Sonia Mack and Diane Munkel opened their South Avenue space in November and chose Westfield because of its charm and great shopping opportunities. The duo looks forward to bringing in some new business in the warm weather months.

Through Sept. 3, the salon is offering a special 50 percent off discount to new customers on any hair service with selected stylists as well as 50 percent off keratin hair treatment therapy. 

With eight styling stations, a spacious waiting area, a red accent wall and hardwood floors, Salon South is open and ready for customers looking to change their look.

The salon caters to both women and men. Mack and Munkel have spent years in the industry, recently coming from Imagine Salon in Springfield and The Gatsby Salon in Green Brook, respectively.

With more than two decades of experience in the beauty industry, Mack has focused on the latest trends. Because she believes in doing what’s most flattering for her clients’ facial features, she has earned the reputation for impeccable artistry. Her styles include clean and classic looks to the edgy contemporary vibe of fashion today. In addition, Mack specializes in all aspects of color and highlighting techniques.

Munkel derives from a passionate journey in the hair and beauty industry. She began her career in New York City, where she specialized in color and women’s cuts while working at The Gatsby Salon, as well as the Subway Salon and Just Salon and Spa in Millburn. 

Salon South is open Tuesday through Saturday. In addition, on Fridays the salon holds a “blowout bar,” with $25 blowouts with selected stylists. Reservations are accepted, but walk-ins are always welcome. The business accepts all major credit cards.
