Senior Scam Seminar To Be Held In Westfield

The seminar will provide seniors and their caregivers with information on how to protect themselves against financial losses from scams.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Lifelong Westfield and Westfield Police Department are partnering to host a "Senior Scam Seminar" next week.

The session will be held on Friday, Dec. 9. at 11 a.m. in the Town Hall Community Room. The seminar will provide seniors and their caregivers with information to protect themselves against financial losses from scams.

A recent attempted scam occurred in Cranford when an elderly resident received a phone call from people pretending to be the New York Prosecutor's Office. The fraudsters told the resident that their grandson was in custody and needed money for bail.

Cranford Police ultimately arrested the two scammers from New York.
