Shoplifting, Fraud Cases Reported In Union County
Police said recent investigations included shoplifting and multiple fraud incidents involving stolen credit cards.
SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Several theft and fraud-related cases were reported in Scotch Plains in recent days, according to police, including shoplifting and credit card-related incidents involving both local and out-of-town victims.
In one case, 44-year-old Danielle Nemeth of Wharton was charged in connection with the theft of cigarettes from a local business, according to police. She was taken into custody following an investigation.
Fraud cases were also reported on May 29.

A Scotch Plains resident reported that a credit card account had been opened in their name without authorization. According to police, the resident did not report any financial loss.
In a separate incident, a resident from Midland, Texas reported that belongings were taken from a locker at a local fitness center and later used at several retail stores. Police said the case involved unauthorized use of credit cards.
