Smoking Banned At Westfield Outdoor Cafes
The Westfield Township Committee unanimously voted to prohibit smoking at outdoor cafes and extend the sidewalk season on Tuesday night.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Smoking has been banned at any sidewalk, outdoor cafes in Westfield following a vote by committee members on Tuesday night.
"Sidewalk cafes are essentially extensions of restaurants," Councilman Sam Della Fera said at the Oct. 18 meeting. "Smoking has long been prohibited at restaurants."
The new ordinance was introduced at the Oct. 18 meeting and finalized at the Nov. 1 meeting.

The ordinance also allows for sidewalk cafes to set up 30 days earlier in the season.
The start date for sidewalk cafes has been changed from April 1 to March 1 due to the good weather the town has been experiencing.

The cafes will be permitted from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. through Nov. 30 of each year.
