Star-Ledger: Westfield Native Under Consideration for Florida Schools Chief

Schundler one of nine candidates under considerations to run Sunshine State schools.

Former State Education Commissioner Bret Schundler, a Westfield native, is one of nine candidates under consideration to be the next education commissioner of Florida. The names have been presented to the Florida Board of Education and Florida Gov. Rick Scott for consideration.

Schundler, a former Jersey City mayor who grew up in the Gardens, served as in Gov. Chris Christie's cabinet from January to August 2010. Christie Schundler, the 2001 Republican nominee for governor, after a fallout over the state's application.
