Summer Fishing Derby for Persons with Special Needs, August 21

Free all-ages event to be held at Warinanco Park; fishing poles and chairs will be provided to those who need them.

The Union County Board of County Commissioners in partnership with Elizabeth Public Schools, Elizabeth Education Association, and Elizabeth Parent Support Group would like to invite all residents with special needs and disabilities to the Summer Fishing Derby on Saturday, August 21 at Warinanco Park in Roselle.

The event takes place from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and is free, however, pre-registration is required at www.ucnj.org/opdsn-reg.

“The Commissioner Board and I are excited to host this wonderful event again,” said Commissioner Board Chairman Alexander Mirabella. “We are proud to be in a position of creating new opportunities for our special needs residents to safely enjoy the outdoors.”

The Summer Fishing Derby is open to all ages. Chairs and fishing poles will be provided but participants are welcome to bring their own. Snacks and drinks will also be provided.

“As a wonderful way to spend time with the entire family, we invite special needs residents of all ages and their families to come enjoy this amazing event.” said County Commissioner Sergio Granados.
