Summer Reading Programs at the Mountainside Public Library

This summer's theme is "Every Hero Has a Story" and the selection of books will focus on what it means to be a hero.

Research shows that students can lose up to three months of reading ability over the summer.  Fortunately, this summer reading loss is preventable.  Children who read during the summer do not have to suffer reading loss and may even show some growth in their reading ability.  Make reading fun and interesting this summer by joining one of the Library’s summer reading programs.

Story Times.  Tuesdays, June 30 through August 4:  Cuddle Story Time (Ages birth to 23 months) 10:30 - 11:00 AM; Preschool Stories and Crafts (3, 4 and 5 year olds) 2:00 - 2:45 PM.  Thursdays, July 2 through August 6: Toddler Story Time (2 year olds) 10:30 - 11:00 AM; Stories and Crafts (Rising K-2nd graders) 2:00 - 2:45 PM.

Summer Book Discussion Groups.  Wednesdays in July.  Third and Fourth raders meet at 10:30 AM;  Fifth and Sixth graders meet at 1:00 PM; Seventh and Eighth graders meet at 3:00 PM.
