Support Needed For Summit Cop's Brain Tumor Recovery
A 4cm tumor was removed from Sgt. Brian Werthmann's brain. However, he is suffering from serious postoperative complications.

SUMMIT, NJ — The Summit PBA #55 is asking the community to rally in support of Summit Police Sergeant Brian Werthmann, who recently underwent surgery to remove a large acoustic neuroma tumor from his brain and is facing a long road to recovery.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help Werthmann and his family during this challenging time.
Werthmann, who has served the Summit community for the past 24 years, underwent the surgery on May 31.

The surgeons were able to remove the 4cm tumor from his brain successfully. However, he has experienced serious postoperative complications, such as partial paralysis of the left side of his body, partial blindness, and the inability to walk without assistance.
"Although his doctors are hopeful that these complications will resolve over time, it is not guaranteed," according to the GoFundMe.

Just before Werthmann was diagnosed, he had submitted his retirement application to the State and is scheduled to retire on Aug. 1. He had planned to work as a general contractor and had just formed his company, Werthmann Bros.
Unfortunately, due to the complications that resulted from his recent surgery, Werthmann will be unable to work in that capacity for some time.
The funds raised through this campaign will go towards medical expenses, rehabilitation, and supporting his family(which includes his wife Cristina and two daughters) while he focuses on healing.
