UNION, NJ — A high school senior was killed in a cement truck crash while on vacation last month, authorities said Tuesday.

Olivia Belloso, a Union High School senior and Junior ROTC member, recently passed away following a crash involving a cement truck in Florida that seriously injured all five members of her family, according to the Township of Union.

The Belloso family had traveled to Fort Lauderdale on May 15 for a cruise vacation. While riding in a taxi from the airport to the cruise port, the vehicle was struck by a cement truck, leaving the entire family hospitalized.

In a May 23 update posted to a GoFundMe fundraiser created to support the family, Orlando Belloso said he and his wife had been discharged from the hospital, while Joshua and Owen had been moved out of intensive care and continued their recovery.

The fundraiser, organized by Gina Holland, says donations will help cover medical expenses, travel costs, and temporary housing while the family remains away from home. As of Wednesday morning, the fundraiser had raised more than $86,000 toward its $90,000 goal.

The Township of Union said its thoughts and prayers are with Orlando and Wilmaris Belloso and their family as they continue to navigate the aftermath of the crash.
