The Westfield Area Y Flyers Track Club Starts the Season Strong

Twenty-two athletes from the Flyers Track Club were among the over 700 athletes that participated in the NJ Striders Track Meet at Saddle Brook High School on April 14, 2013.

The Flyers had 9 top-10 finishes and set 8 team records. 

Nicole Massa set a team record and finished 1st in the Girls’ Midget division for the Turbo Javelin.  Isabella DeSimone set a team record and finished 3rd for the 200 meter hurdles and finished 9^th in the 800 meter dash in the Girls’ Youth division.  Ryan VanBenschoten finished 2nd and set a team record for the 200 meter hurdles in the Boys’ Intermediate division.  Dylan Bordman set a team record for Turbo Javelin in the Boys’ Bantam Division.  Grace Endy finished 1st and set a team record in the 800 meter Race Walk and set a team record for the 200 meter dash in the Bantam Girls division.  Melissa Endy finished 1st and set a team record for the 800 meter Race Walk in the Youth Girls’ division.  Matthew Ackerman finished 2nd and set a team record 800 meter Race Walk in the Bantam Boys’ division. William McGlynn finished 8^th in the Bantam Boys 800 meter dash.  Marlo Avidon finished 5^th in Long Jump for Youth Girls’ division.  Abigail Granrath finished 3rd in the 800 meter dash in the Bantam Girl’s Division.

The Westfield Area Y Flyers Track Club is a USATF certified club that serves over 600 athletes throughout the year. The current Spring Track season lasts until May 17^th.
