WESTFIELD, NJ — The town of Westfield announced last week that it will hold a ceremony to kick off Pride month, supporting members of the LGBTQ+ community. And yes, there will be rainbow cookies.

The pride flag will be raised Wednesday at 6 p.m. in front of Town Hall, 425 E Broad St.

"We will then walk to the rainbow crosswalks and gather for a photo with the high school volunteers who completed the original paint work last June," noted Mayor Shelley Brindle in her update on Friday. "Rainbow cookies from Bovella’s will be provided, courtesy of Wonder."

She noted, "I’m looking forward to celebrating the inclusive spirit of Westfield -- all are welcome to attend!"

Meanwhile, Union County will hold its own LGBTQ Pride Flag Raising Ceremony event Tuesday at 1 p.m. on the steps of the Union County Courthouse located at 2 Broad St. in Elizabeth. More information about that event is here.
