Toddler Accidentally Locked In Car On Hot Day Rescued By Summit Firefighters
Police and firefighters quickly went to Solider Memorial Field in Summit on Friday to help.
SUMMIT, NJ — A toddler accidentally locked inside a car during a very hot Friday was rescued by fast-acting Summit firefighters.
It was a hot day on July 28 with the National Weather Service issuing an excessive heat warning with temperatures reaching the upper 90s.
A babysitter pulled into Solider Memorial Field and realized immediately that she locked the 2-year-old in the car and called the parents and 911.

The call came into dispatch at 10:51 a.m., said Summit Spokeswoman Megan Trindell.
Police arrived at the field at 5 Mrytle Ave. at 10:54 a.m. Summit Fire Department was at the field a minute later at 10:55 a.m.

Firefighrers started working on the car door at 10:56 a.m. and they were able to get inside the car by 10:59 a.m.
No one was injured and everyone was fine, said Trindell.
