Traffic Lights At Westfield Intersection To Finally Function
Drivers can expect to see the signal go into a normal red/amber/green mode and become fully functional next week.

WESTFIELD, NJ — The traffic lights at the intersection of Rahway Avenue and Lamberts Mill Road in Westfield will finally be functional beginning next week.
Currently, the lights are set to a flashing yellow/red mode to alert drivers of the new signal.
"On or about Monday, Sept. 4, the signal will go into a normal red/amber/green mode and become fully functional," according to Westfield.

Message board signs will be placed in the area to alert drivers of the new light.
The traffic signal was initially installed in 2021 by Union County but was delayed due to COVID and other issues, according to tapinto.net.

"Woohoo! Navigating the transportation bureaucracy took the County of Union, New Jersey a bit longer than anyone anticipated, but we’re grateful for their support in getting this important traffic signal up and running!" said Mayor Shelley Brindle.
Councilman Mark LoGrippo thanked all of the residents who reached out to him over the years regarding the need for a traffic light.
"The accident data shows a traffic signal was indeed needed," said Councilman Mark LoGrippo.
