Two Dead In Roselle Shooting Deemed Murder-Suicide

Breaking: An investigation found the Roselle man fatally shot the 22-year-old Newark woman in his driveway before taking his own life.

ROSELLE, NJ — Two people who were found dead, following a shooting outside a home in Roselle Tuesday afternoon, has been determined to have been a murder-suicide, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Wednesday.

The victim and perpetrator were identified as 22-year-old Anishalee Cortes of Newark and 49-year-old Dominick Richards of Roselle, Park said.

It was found Richards approached Cortes in the driveway of his home and fatally shot her before taking his own life, according to an investigation involving the Prosecutor’s Office’s Homicide Task Force, Roselle Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit

On June 13 at around 2:30 p.m., Roselle Police Department patrol units responded to the 900 block of Chestnut Street where they found the bodies of Cortes and Richards. They were both pronounced dead at the scene, according to reports.

A handgun was recovered from the scene. Autopsies for the deceased were scheduled for Wednesday.
