Union County Offers Scholarships For Summer Theater Camp
Young performers ages 8-17 can apply for the 2026 Summer Theater Camp Scholarship Program before the May 1 deadline.
UNION COUNTY, NJ — The Union County Board of County Commissioners, in partnership with the Union County Performing Arts Center and Theatrical Artists’ Prep, has opened enrollment for the 2026 Summer Theater Camp Scholarship Program.
Aspiring campers between the ages of 8 and 17 can apply online for the opportunity. The deadline to apply is May 1.
The program offers scholarships for a four-week summer conservatory. This camp will run from June 29 through July 25, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Union County Performing Arts Center’s Hamilton Stage, 360 Hamilton Street in Rahway.

Two separate casts will be formed, one for children aged 8 to 12 and another for teens aged 13 to 17. Participants will perform in an original production titled "Unlimited."
"We are proud to continue our summer scholarship program for aspiring young performers," stated Union County Commissioner Chairman Joseph C. Bodek.

He added that the initiative provides students with an opportunity to develop skills and experience being part of a production cast.
Bodek also noted that participants will be led by industry professionals.
Union County Commissioner Alexander Mirabella, Liaison to the Open Space, Recreation and Historic Preservation Trust Fund, commented on the program's impact.
He said, "Watching students from diverse backgrounds and from different corners of Union County come together and put on a show they are so proud of and worked all summer for, is truly rewarding for us."
Mirabella thanked UCPAC and Theatrical Artists’ Prep for their collaboration. He noted that the partnership allows the county to offer this program without creating a financial burden for families.
