Union County Pastry Chef Beats Bobby Flay In Food Network Challenge

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ — Joe Murphy has some bragging rights after beating celebrity chef Bobby Flay in a challenge on Food Network last week.

Murphy, a pastry chef and owner of Bakehouse by Joe Murphy in New Providence, appeared in an episode of "Beat Bobby Flay" on Sept. 7.

On the episode pastry chef Zac Young and SNL alum Cheri Oteri recruit Murphy and Laura Ochikubo to compete against Flay to see who takes home the cake.

Murphy opened Bakehouse at 1253 Springfield Ave. in New Providence after working in New York City.
