Pedestrian Hit By Car On Route 22 Dies
A Union driver reportedly hit a township pedestrian in the roadway of Route 22 East on Monday night, police say.

UNION, NJ — A pedestrian who was hit by a car on Rt. 22 in Union Township on Monday has died, authorities said.
On Monday at around 9:16 p.m. a red Toyota Corolla driven by a 62-year-old Union man was driving east on the Route 22 near the intersection of Greenley Avenue South when he hit a pedestrian in the roadway, Union Police Sgt. Robert Donnelly reports.
The victim was identified as Noor Hussain of Union. He suffered numerous injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to University Hospital where he ultimately died from his injuries, Donnelly said.

Route 22 East was detoured for about 30 minutes before the left two lanes were closed while the crash scene was processed. Union Police Officer Michael Salerno is conducting the crash investigation.
This investigation is ongoing pending further information and witness statements. Any witnesses to this crash are asked to contact the Union Police Department Traffic Bureau at 908-851-5070.
