Unlocked Cars Stolen, Burglarized in Westfield: Police
Last week's Westfield Police blotter included a town man being arrested for DWI, a $60,000 car being stolen and thefts from cars

Westfield, NJ -- Unlocked cars seem to be the target in Westfield.
Last week a total of two unlocked cars were burglarized and one car was stolen, according to the Westfield Police blotter.
A 2011 Infiniti QX56, worth $60,000, was stolen from a driveway in the 200 block of Munsee Way, a resident reported on May 18 at 7:34 a.m.

The vehicle was unlocked and had to key fob in it at the time of theft, according to the report.
Several other unlocked cars were also burglarized in town.

On May 19 at 7:39 a.m.: A resident in the 500 block of Lawrence Avenue reported a burglary and theft from their unlocked motor vehicle while it was parked in the driveway. The subjects entered the vehicle and stole $240 worth of clothing. The incident occurred between 10 p.m. on May 17 and 7 a.m. on May 18.
On May 18 at 5:50 p.m.: A resident of Cranford Avenue report a burglary to her motor vehicle. Unknown actors gained access to the victim's unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway in front of the residence. Taken from the vehicle was a Vera Bradley purse, black and white in color worth $50, approximately $20 cash, the victim’s New Jersey Motor Vehicle driver’s license, and multiple credit cards. The incident occurred between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on May 18.

On May 11 at 11:30 p.m.: Officers Weiss and Shaughnessy arrested Thomas J Mollica, 30, of Plainfield on a no bail warrant out of Somerset County Prosecutor's Office and another warrant out of Bordentown Township Municipal Court in the amount of $175 pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of West Broad Street and Hetfield Avenue in Scotch Plains. Mollica was transported to Westfield Police Department headquarters where he was processed and turned over to the custody of the Somerset County prosecutor's office.
On May 13 at 8:53 p.m.: Officers Porcenito and Martinez arrested John Pagan, 76, of the 200 block of Caccioua Place, Westfield for driving while intoxicated pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Central Avenue by Clifton Street. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed and released to a sober adult.
On May 15 at 11:46 p.m.: Officers O’Hola and McCarthy arrested Nicholas Ballas, 18, of Willow Street, Cranford for possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Benson place by Lenox Avenue. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed and released after being issued summonses and a mandatory court date.
On May 16 at 9:32 a.m.: Alberto Castelon, 48, of Elizabeth was arrested during a motor vehicle stop at West Broad and Broadway. He posted bail and was released.
On May 16 at 11:44 a.m.: Police officers arrested Danny Earp, 55, of Newark and Rosita Washington, 34, of Newark on active warrants during a motor vehicle stop at South Ave and Cumberland Street. Washington was released on her own recognizance on a warrant for $350 out of Newark. Earp was transferred to Nutley Police Department on an active $500 warrant. He was also released on his own recognizance by Roxbury for $1,500 warrant, Montvale $1,000 warrant and $650 warrant out of Newark.
On May 16 at 4:25 p.m.: A resident of the 500 block of Cumberland Street recovered an arrow in his backyard. The object had an inscription and was placed in evidence.
On May 17 at 12:36 p.m.: A business in the 300 block of East South Avenue reported the theft of the $80 worth of merchandise that occurred on May 5 between 12:15 and 12:36 p.m.
On May 18 at 3:49 p.m.: Justin L. Cunningham ,29, Foyer Street, Edison was arrested at Westfield Police Headquarters on an outstanding warrent issued by the Westfield Municipal Court for $89. Cunningham was processed and released after posting cash bail.
On May 18 at 11:57 p.m.: Officers Weiss and Loffredo arrested Sean Samuel, 40, of Plainfield on three outstanding warrants for $450 out of Elizabeth Municipal Court pursuant to an investigation in the 500 block of East North Avenue. He was transported to Westfield Police Headquarters where he was processed and released on his own recognizance pending appearance at the Elizabeth Municipal Court.
On May 19 at 12:42 p.m.: Mona D. Nelson, 45, of Forest Avenue, Westfield was arrested for an outstanding warrant issued by the Fanwood municipal court for $165 pursuant to a traffic stop on Central Avenue near Myrtle Avenue. She was transported to Westfield police headquarters for arrest, processing, and released after posting bail.
