US Green Building Council NJ Condemns White House Abandonment of Global Climate Agreement
(Morristown, NJ: June 2, 2017) The US Green Building Council-NJ today condemned President Trump’s decision to abandon the 2016 Paris Climate Agreement to reduce and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. The U.S. now joins Syria and Nicaragua to reject the accord.

“The USGBC-NJ is the State’s leader in advancing green building and sustainable communities through its LEED-green building education and certifications, and reduction of carbon—the leading cause of climate change. Green buildings are vital for our community’s and our children’s future,” said William Amann, P.E, LEED Fellow, President of M & E Engineers and Board of Directors, USGBC NJ.
“Hurricanes Sandy and Irene sent a warning, as greater storm intensities, sea level rise, deaths, impaired drinking water and destruction of our homes and business signaled this new reality,” said Marc Matsil, Executive Director, USGBC NJ. Nearly 40% of our nation’s Carbon emissions (and energy consumption) are generated by buildings, said Matsil. Carbon dioxide is a leading cause of climate change.
