Large tires and a sledgehammer were scattered on the lawn of Westfield High School Friday morning, as the wrestling team engaged in a different type of practice.
Utilizing various large tires, including one 500 pound one, wrestlers flipped tires, lifted tires and engaged in cardiovascular activities. A highlight of the circuit was wrestlers having the chance to beat a tire with a sledgehammer for 40 seconds as a workout.
Wrestling coach Glen Kurz noted the practice was scheduled to give the team a fun practice that got them out of the weight room. The practice is part of the winter team's year round practice and prevention program.
