Viva Glam Chosen Favorite Salon in Westfield

Patch readers have spoken and was named favorite hair salon in Westfield.

Upon hearing that the salon had been crowned the winner, customers, in various stages of highlights, cuts and colorings, spontaneously clapped for owners Lisa Ramirez and Angie Garcia.

Loyal customer Lisa Marino, who has been coming to the South Avenue salon since it opened three years ago, said she enjoys "the down-to-Earth-atmosphere."

Ramirez and Garcia agreed that what has made their shop a success and a voter favorite is their commitment to "giving back to the community."

Throughout the year the salon collects items for battered women's shelters. Viva Glam also participates in Cuts for Cancer each October. The hairstylists will sponsor one of their largest fundraisers, the fifth annual at the Westwood in Garwood, from 7 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, May 12.

Patch readers were quick to point out that for the crew at Viva Glam, beauty runs well beyond the surface. 

Sachkowsky commented: "I love that they do lots of fundraising for many causes cancer and battered women and alzheimers diease. They do fun things like girls night out held at the salon. When I leave the salon I look like I could be in Hollywood. Thanks Viva Glam for being the best salon in Westfield!"

Reader agreed. "...they are so committed to socially conscious community activities and charity fundraisers. How can you not feel good about supporting a business like that?" she wrote.
