Wanted Union Car Thief Nabbed While In Another Stolen Car

UNION, NJ — A man wanted for stealing a car from an auto repair business in Union in March was arrested with another stolen car, Union Police report.

Edward Ward of East Orange was identified as the suspect wanted for stealing a 1997 Nissan from Maxon, a dealership on Morris Avenue on March 22. (See Related: Public Asked To Help Identify Alleged Car Thief In Union)

The owner of the business had reported that he had vehicles running to move for the storm when he was approached by an unknown man, later identified as Ward, asking about a repair to his vehicle. Ward then disappeared along with the customer's Nissan.

Union detectives gathered enough evidence to sign criminal complaints against Ward and identified him as the suspect in the video surveillance photo wearing a New Orleans Saints multicolored wool hat, police reported on Wednesday.

Ward was arrested by another police department and had the same hat with him in another stolen car, Union Police reported.
