WATCH: Jimmy Fallon Asks Gov. Christie About Awkward Super Tuesday Face

Gov. Christie appeared on the Tonight Show Friday, clearing up a few recent incidents that prompted thousands of jokes at his expense.

Gov. Chris Christie appeared on the Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon Friday, clearing up a few recent incidents that prompted thousands of jokes on social media at his expense.

Fallon began the segment by asking Christie, clad in a dark suit and purple tie, about his infamous appearance behind Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump during his Super Tuesday speech. Many joked that his expression as he stood behind the front runner looked like he was being held hostage.

Fallon, who used a cardboard cutout of Christie's face during the speech as a hilarious prop, asked him about it right away.

Here's how he explained his awkward moment to Fallon: "If you’re used to talking, it’s awkward not to talk. So if you’re standing there, I’m listening. What are you supposed to look like?"

Next, Fallon asked him about another scandal — and this time it wasn't Bridgegate. It was the buzz about Christie's choice of snack during an NCAA game last week.

After a Twitter user posted a picture of the governor pouring one bag of M&Ms into a box of M&M's, people began to wonder: what exactly is going on there?

From Pete Blackburn, sports editor for Uproxx: "Chris Christie pouring his bag of M&M's into a bigger bag of MORE M&M's is a savage and perplexing move."

Christie cleared that up too. The bag was inside the box, leaving him with the decision of eating the chocolate candies from the bag or pouring them back into the box. He chose the latter.
