Watch Westfield Thieves Get Thwarted By Door Lock (Video)
The Westfield Police say locking your car stops crime. And they have the video to prove it.
WESTFIELD, NJ - For months the Westfield Police Department has been broadcasting reminders on social media telling residents to lock their cars and their doors at 9 p.m. each evening.
The #9PMRoutine is the campaign in question and the Westfield Police have posted a video showing how it works.

According to officials, the video was taken from a Westfield home on the north side of town. Two thieves attempted to gain entry to this Jeep Cherokee and were deterred when they realized that the vehicle was locked, police said.
"Unfortunately this incident wasn’t reported until the next morning when the video was viewed on the resident’s camera," police said. "Please remember to keep your doors locked so we can continue to deter these thieves."
