Westfield Baseball Beats Perth Amboy, 2-1
Westfield advances to State Sectional Finals; Perconte's 7th inning suicide squeeze paces the victory.

Anthony Perconte laid down a perfect squeeze bunt with one out in bottom of the 7th inning for the winning run and Kevin Galasso pitched a complete game 5-hitter to lead Westfield to a 2-1 win over Perth Amboy on Thursday, May 30th at Bob Brewster Sr. Field in Westfield.
Westfield jumped ahead in the first inning when Perconte singled, Liam Devin was hit by a pitch and Chris Arena delivered an RBI single for the 1-0 lead. The Blue Devils had a chance for more after a walk to Jake Greenberg loaded the bases but Perth Amboy was able to wriggle out of the jam without additional damage.
Perth Amboy tied the score in the top of the 5th, stringing together 2 singles and a sacrifice fly to make the score 1-1. But Eric Demers reached on a two-base error leading off the bottom of the 7th and scored the winning run on Perconte's bunt.
Demers and Mike Ionta also had base hits for Westfield (17-11), who will now travel to North Hunterdon on Friday, May 31th for the sectional championship game.
