Westfield Bicycle Thief Arrested: Police

Multiple drug arrests, a stolen bike reported and a bike thief was arrested: Westfield Police blotter

Westfield, NJ - A Newark man was arrested for the theft of a bicycle in Westfield.

On June 9 at 3:29 p.m., Officers Perkins and Sanders arrested Peter Bailey 58 of 16th Street, Newark for theft of a black Schwinn bicycle pursuant to an investigation in the area of Temple Place.

He was also arrested on a Newark Municipal warrant and North Plainfield Municipal warrant. He was processed turned over to North Plainfield in lieu of bail.

On June 8 at 12:24 a.m.: Officers McCarthy and Porcenito arrested Rebecca Arnashus, 19, of Thayer Avenue, Avenel for possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Central Avenue and South Avenue. She was transported to headquarters where she was processed and released with a mandatory court date.

On June 10 at 1:33 a.m.: Officers O’Holla and Desiato arrested Dariez Grullon, 23, of Springfield Massachusetts for possession of marijuana under 50 grams go into a motor vehicle stop in the area of Mountain Avenue and Bradford Avenue. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed and released with a mandatory court date.

On June 10 at 7:27 a.m.: Officers Doherty and Moya arrested Katterine C. Mateo, 37, of White Plains subsequent to a motor vehicle stop for outstanding warrants issued by Harrison Police Department for $195 in East Newark police department for $465. She was transported to Westfield Police Department processed and released after posting bail.

On June 11 at 2:28 a.m.: Sulton T. Avent Jr., 22, of Plainfield was arrested on the strength of an outstanding traffic warrant out of Westfield municipal court for $229 pursuant to a prisoner pick up at Irvington Police Department. He was transported to Westfield Police Headquarters where he was processed and held in lieu of bail.

On June 11 at 11:20 a.m.: officer Johnson and Jamarillo arrested Calvin M. Sprung, 61, of Scotch Plains subsequent to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Central Avenue and Lenox Avenue for possession of under 50 grams of suspected marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to Westfield Police Department processed and released on summons with a mandatory Westfield municipal court date.

On June 11 at 6:36 p.m.: Kingsley Pryce, 58, of Brooklyn, New York was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Maricopa County Sheriff's Office for a no-bail warrant. He was processed and transported to Union County Jail.

On June 12 at 2:20 p.m.: Peter L. Halasy, Jr., 29, of Milton Avenue, Summit was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant issued by the Westfield Municipal Court. He was transported from the Essex County Jail directly to the Union County Jail in lieu of bail.

On June 12 at 12:25 p.m.: A resident of Tamaques Way reports that an unknown actor entered his unlocked garage and stole his specialized brand bicycle valued at approximately $2,000 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on June 11.

On June 12 at 7:26 p.m.: A business in the 600 block of West North Avenue reported being a victim of fraud. Employees stated actors made $1,990.14 in transactions which later deemed to be fraudulent and an attempted transaction was also made in the amount of $699.99.

On June 14 at 7:46 p.m.: Calixto Paniagua, 22, of Emma Street Elizabeth on an outstanding warrant issued by Union Township Municipal Court pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of South Elucid by East Broad Street. Subject was transported to headquarters where he was processed and released on his own recognizance but Union Police Department with a new court date.

On June 15 at 1:32 a.m.: Sherman Talley, 25of Roselle was arrested on an outstanding warrant issued by the Union County Sheriff's Office pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Livingston and South Avenue. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed and placed into a jail cell awaiting pickup by the Union County Sheriff's Office.
